Halfway To Hollywood
Halfway to Hollywood is right! This local Pop-Rock/PowerPop band from Vancouver, BC gave me the honour of reviewing their brand new, two-song EP, "Speechless," recorded in their private studio in March, and mixed by professional, Steve Klassen (These Kids Wear Crowns, Faber Drive) at the Sound Suite in Abbotsford just recently!
This new band gives off a very feel-good, relatable vibe. They have catchy lyrics and strong melodies and harmonies in both songs, with well put-together, energetic, instrumentals to back them up! Their sound is very Boys Like Girls meets Simple Plan, meets local Vancouver band - Fighting For Ithica. It's a VERY welcoming sound!
The first song, "Speechless," has very cute lyrics, strong vocals, and a catchy melody. Front man, Grant Walker's vocals and guitar are masterfully mixed with fellow band members' bass (Brenden White), keys and synths(Joey Levesque), lead guitar(Jacob Owen), drums(Graeme Hahn), and backing vocals(Brendan White and Jacob Owen). The track reminds me a lot of, "Five Minutes To Midnight," by Boys Like Girls. I could see myself dancing to this at a party, club, or live show any day!
Next up is, "Breakdown." Now, with a name like that, people might think it's going to be another one of those sad songs - but it isn't! This song is a very inspirational, heart-warming piece, with good phrasing and a tight sound. Right off the bat, the song starts on a soft, but major note, and kicks that up a notch thirteen seconds in with some great gang-vocals, and a full-instrument sound! The lyrics are very relatable to people of all ages, especially those going through a rough patch in their lives, who just need a little pick-me-up! (And who hasn't been there? I know I have!) Again, it's just one of those songs I can see myself dancing to all night, or rocking out to at a live show!
Though new to the scene, not having played any shows yet (though planning to either late July or early August), these guys have a strong following both on Facebook with 568 Likes, and on Twitter, with a whopping 2,945 followers!

That's it for now! Keep rockin.'

Lifely Updates from a bored Rosie
hey ya'll! been forever since I delved into my personal life on the internet, so, uhh, here we go?
First off! I'm attending classes at this amazing place called RSA Academy in Vancouver. I'm there every Saturday and Sunday until May 1st. I'm taking both music and acting courses. It's what's called the "Platinum" program there.
The classes are a lot of fun. The teachers are fabulous, and though I'm the oldest by about four years in the acting program, I get along GREAT with my classmates. Got a tight little crew already! In the singing program, there's one other girl who's close to my age (she's 18), and the rest are, again, younger. As well as the teachers, and classmates, the crew who work at the studio and around RSA are amaazing people. They have a whole shit-load of talent, and they're just generally awesome. Lots of fun! Must say, couple of cuties too. ;) HAD TO SAY IT! (Let's hope they don't read this!)
Besides RSA news - I'm no longer working. Got laid off, and am looking for a new job. I'm hoping to find something over on the mainland, and somewhere to live as well! I really want to be there by the summertime! If anyone knows of cheap places to rent in the Burnaby general area - PLEASE let me know!!
In other, other news. Mum and dad still don't know about the tattoo, I'm single and crushing, Stevie is coming to Vancouver to visit!! :D FINALLY, I've started to write more songs lately. It's been awhile! Must say I gave up for a bit there.. and I'm super duper happy with my life at the moment! :D I'm going to end this here!
Until my next boredum filled life-rant!

Hey everyone! I've got a question to ask..
What in the world should I blog about? I don't want to bore ya'll with the details of my life all the time, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!! It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

R.I.P
Rosie's a little sad today, but staying strong. Daddy needs it. His eldest brother passed yesterday; with a smile on his face proclaiming that he'll see Elvis before all of us. I didn't know my uncle that well, but I knew him well enough to say I loved him, and still love him, though he's passed on and is now free to roam wherever he pleases. I wrote a song last night. It's called "Hey There Uncle." I like it. It reminds me of him. I'm gonna share it with all the rest of the family. There's a LOT of us. Hehe. It's going to be really hard on a lot of people. Especially his 6 siblings, and wife, and his son, and well - everyone. I remember going to visit him each summer where he lived. Always had fun. :) We all know he's smiling down at us from where he is, rocking out and having a good time; because that's just how he is. I love you Uncle Frank! May you rest in peace. ♥ xoxo
Always,
-Rosie.
